Laura is a ceramic artist living and working in Amsterdam.  She makes handbuilt homeware including vases, table lamps and other ornamentals, as well as wheel thrown dinnerware such as cups, mugs, bowls and plates. All her products are fired to high temperatures to make them strong and durable.

 

On moving with her family from Scotland to Amsterdam, Laura took a career break from the corporate world of Accountancy and Banking and used this opportunity to explore her creative side. She began her ceramics journey in December 2017 with an evening class where she learned to hand build with clay and then a few years later she learned how to 'throw' on the potter's wheel.

 

While she enjoys making tableware on the turning wheel, her first love of handbuilding remains.  There is something truly wonderful about starting with a lump of clay and turning it into something beautiful.
