Service Description

This 8-class course is for All Levels. Meeting Saturdays for 2.5 hours, from 11am-1:30pm. Beginners will learn: Wedging (getting the air bubbles out of the clay) Centering (getting the clay to sit right in the middle of your wheel) Pulling walls (bringing the clay up to form the sides of your work) Shaping (forming the walls) Trimming (carving your work after it has dried to leather hard) Creating Foot Rings Glazing (painting your work with underglazes and finished glazes) More advanced students can also explore various shapes like vases, plates and the donut (2-walled shapes). All students are welcome to utilize hand-building techniques and tools, which include adding handles to mugs. Everything is included: clay, brush glazes, underglazes, all tools needed, and the two-step firing of your work (both bisque and glaze fire). Students will complete 3-6 pieces in 8 weeks. Make sure to wear clothes you do not mind getting dirty and consider cutting you finger nails. All classes are taught in English.
