AUG 1&2 / 2-DAY WHEEL WORKSHOP

Service Description

This 2-Day Workshop is a Taster for Beginners only. Meeting Sat and Sun for 2 hours each day, from 11-1pm. Day One you will learn: Coning up and down (massaging the clay-getting it ready for use) Centering (guiding the clay to the middle of your wheel) Opening (forming the interior of your pot) Pulling walls (bringing the clay up to form the sides of your work) Shaping (forming the walls after they are even) Day Two you will learn: Trimming (carving your work when it has dried to leather-hard) Foot Rings (making a stable base for your pot) Decorating (painting your work with underglazes, carving designs, adding elements like handles) You must attend both days since we work on the same pot on both days. Everything is included: clay, underglazes, glazes, all tools needed, the two-step firing of your work (both bisque and glaze fire). The studio will glaze your piece with one glaze of your choice (over 50 glaze choices offered) Students will complete 1 bowl or cup. Please wear clothes you do not mind getting dirty and cut you finger nails (it is very hard to throw a pot with long nails). All classes are taught in English.
